Astrid Lindgren created some of my childhood's most influential heroines, Pippi Longstocking and Ronia the Robber's daughter, along with a sea of other stories, that I would read over and over again (and still do, these girls kicks ass!). People all over the world are familiar with her body of work (she is the 25th most translated author of all times) but did you know that she also had a planet and a rose named after her?
